The 944 model of Porsche cars was a classic that was produced from 1982 to 1991. It succeeded the 924 model and was itself succeeded by the 968. The 968 was originally intended to be an extension of the 944 model but in the end so many parts were changed from this version that engineers turned it into its own model, the 968. The 944 was at one time the fasted production car after achieving 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds (when tested in 1988).

Porsche is an iconic car manufacturer and has long been operating at the higher end of the consumer market. It also offers consultancy services to other brands and has helped out many other companies in this way including SEAT and Harley-Davidson to name a few. In the racing world its competitor is Ferrari and both manufacturers offer similarly performing cars.
